Nah it’s nice to know you’d be interested! Someday super far in the future when I have time it’d be nice to make a short hack w/ the four kids in like, a one-dungeon area.
testing electronic production. except for the sine wave, this is made entirely with sounds from final fantasy 4.
Talk to me on a regular basis in a friendly manner?
Yes on both counts. You don’t need to know the rules to be good. To be good at any art form you just have to have good taste and learn how to make things that look or sound good; many of the rules will arise naturally from listening to other songs and understanding what makes them sound good. It might be faster to have someone teach you how to do these things or point out mistakes (very helpful) but all that matters is that you overcome these things and the end result of your tribulations. I know a lot of really good composers that are self-taught. I’m not quite as good as them but until two weeks ago I had never taken a lesson in improvisation, composition, or production.
I think not being taught anything formally really works in Pixel’s favor. It means that the music comes right from him. There isn’t anyone else’s hand in shaping the form of it. Obviously he’s inspired by the music he’s listened to before in other games, but it’s his soul.
I want to do a real chiptuney song soon using Famitracker, I just need an idea for it. I did finish another Sega song though.
WHAT NO YOU’RE TURNING MY WORLD UPSIDE DOWN
he just regular ignored me, not like he was uncomfortable or anything. what is wrong with me
Does anyone just have irrelevant flashbacks to stupid things you’ve done that don’t matter? And just feel completely ashamed for like a whole minute? IT KEEPS HAPPENING TO ME LIKE THRICE A DAY…
what’s your favorite, mine is when I sat next to dave eggers at his signing desk because there was another chair when he was signing stuff at our college WHY WOULD I DO THAT ITS WEIRD AND CREEPY…
second favorite - all of highschool
Working on music. I think you guys will like it. I think these songs make my musical maturation and capacity for heterogeneity more evident than ever. I’m trying to be careful to cover vastly different emotional landscapes + switch up the instrumentation, chords, and rhythms a lot between recent tracks.
I haven’t worked on a Black-ish crazy piece recently. (Or anything with Mega Man X Guitars haha.) I know what people like out of stuff I have already done. It’s much more satisfying for me to make something out of the ordinary that people like a lot instead, like Mayor Maynot, or especially Darling Kanaya. A small handful of people keep specifically telling me they REALLY like that song, and that means a lot to me.
I always feel like I’m out to prove something to myself with these sorta things…
Thinking about it, I kinda accidentally doubled up on the lonely and cold in the recent tracks I’ve done… but it’s not like that’s really heavily explored territory and the instrumentations are super different. So…
Well, there’s no mystery, really. In many cases I don’t know either. Just random awesome future Homestuck Album stuff.
